More about Bently Cunningham
- Bentley Cunningham, a retired university lecturer and public administrator, is the longest-serving member of the People's National Party (PNP) UK affiliate since its 1969 inception, holding various leadership roles. His admiration for the late Michael Manley, a charismatic Jamaican Prime Minister (1972-80, 1989-92) who championed social justice, cemented his political involvement.
- As the political educator, Mr Cunningham provides members with comprehensive education on the party’s history, aims, policies, and ideological framework, emphasising the need for a strong ideological anchor to attract new members.
- Mr Cunningham encouraged the Jamaican diaspora in the UK to join the PNP-UK affiliate. He stresses that diaspora members are crucial advocates and ambassadors, organising events and disseminating information to foster political understanding and collective empowerment. Members contribute to campaigns through support and mobilisation, helping secure electoral victories. The affiliate also acts as a vital bridge, leveraging diaspora networks and expertise to strengthen diplomatic and trade relations between the UK and Jamaica. He invites interested individuals to join and make a lasting impact on Jamaica’s success.
